They’re big on mpg. They’re big on fuel efficiency. We’re talking about the lineup of 2014 Fusion models. The Fusion Hybrid and the Fusion Energi Plug-In Hybrid are each powered by a combination electric motor and gas-sipping 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I-4 gasoline engine, and both feature the SmartGauge® with EcoGuide that provides information to help you drive more efficiently. The available 1.6L and 1.5L I-4 EcoBoost® engines are designed to be fuel-efficient without compromising on power. The 1.6L EcoBoost engine comes with a manual transmission. The 1.5L EcoBoost engine comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. And to help you drive more efficiently, we offer several easy tips. The lineup of 2014 Fusion models. They’re all about efficiency.

Ford Fusion Hybrid MPG Performance

HybridPerformanceFord’s Fusion Hybrid is all about efficiency. Its 2.0L I-4 Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine delivers 188 net horsepower and an impressive hybrid performance. At speeds up to 85 mph, it can travel in electric mode. The Fusion Hybrid also features visual aids to help you drive more efficiently. The next-generation SmartGauge® with EcoGuide uses screens on either side of the center-mounted speedometer. Informative screens such as Brake Coach help you maximize your vehicle’s efficiency. Other displays include Inform, Enlighten, Engage or Empower, and explain your options within each mode. The display grows leaves as your short-term driving efficiency increases. As your long-term driving becomes more efficient, vines and more leaves are displayed. You can track the powertrain’s operation – hybrid drive, electric drive, gas engine plus instant and average fuel economy.

EcoBoost® Engines

Ecoboost

The available EcoBoost in-line four-cylinder engines combine three different technologies – turbocharging, direct injection and twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) – to enhance both performance and efficiency. Available on the 1.5L EcoBoost engine, Auto Start-Stop* could help you improve efficiency and lower vehicle emissions. Engine features include:
• All-aluminum construction
• Direct fuel injection
• Single turbocharger
• Piston cooling jets for durability
• 1.6L I-4 EcoBoost engine: EPA-estimated rating of 25 city/37 hwy/29 combined mpg, 1.6L manual. Actual mileage will vary.
• 1.5L EcoBoost engine. EPA-estimated rating of 23 city/36 hwy/28 combined mpg, 1.5L EcoBoost® non-start-stop. Actual mileage will vary.
• 2.0L EcoBoost engine: EPA-estimated rating of 22 city/33 hwy/26 combined mpg, 2.0L EcoBoost FWD. Actual mileage will vary.

2014 Ford Fusion Aerodynamic Design

Aerodynamic

Available Active Grille Shutters are designed to help reduce air resistance and increase efficiency. When closed, they help to reduce the aerodynamic drag on the vehicle caused by air traveling through the radiator.

Next-generation SmartGauge® with EcoGuide

NextGeneration

The dual-LCD next-generation SmartGauge® with EcoGuide provides real-time information to help you get the most efficiency from your Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi. The MyView screen lets you customize screens to your liking. Configurable screens such as Brake Coach help you maximize your vehicle’s efficiency. Displays include Inform, Enlighten, Engage or Empower, and explain your options within each. Five-way steering wheel-mounted controls make it all easy. The gauge can indicate instant fuel economy, fuel economy history, odometer, engine coolant temperature, plus trip data including fuel economy, time-elapsed fuel economy and miles to empty. Watch the display grow leaves when you drive efficiently. Or watch them fade when you don’t. The lush green leaves work in any of the four display modes.
